Sage just wrapped up her 10th rodeo, nearly a decade of being a part of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and a part of a great group of people.

Sage Hanner is a West Texas A&M University alumni, a former member of the WTAMU equestrian team, and found herself with an internship opportunity at the San Antonio Rodeo in 2013! Sage just wrapped up her 10th rodeo- nearly a decade of being a part of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and a part of a great group of people.

Agriculture, horses, and the importance of education has always been a part of Sage’s life, so it was only natural for her to want to jump in head first with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and their mission to develop the youth of Texas by funding scholarships and educational programs! The mission of this organization runs deep, and the heart and passion of all of the people that come together to see this through is something that stands out across the nation!

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has just completed their 74th consecutive rodeo! There is literally something for everyone to do here at the San Antonio Rodeo, and all of the extensive planning and organizing is something that the Volunteer groups take seriously!

Breakaway Roping has been a great addition to the San Antonio Rodeo! In 2019, they started producing the Open Breakaway Roping Jackpot, and it was a huge success! The proof in the number of ladies that showed up to compete really showed the committee that there was growth and data in the numbers of breakaway roping, and was the push to add it to the PRCA Rodeo as an event! “The Breakaway Roping is popular with the fans, it’s fun, it’s fast, and people love it,” Sage says! “The breakaway ropers are down to earth, friendly, and humble competitors, and that was a breath of fresh air; that meant a lot to all of the volunteers on San Antonio Rodeo’s team!”
