WRWC Last Chance Qualifier Shot | World Champion Breakaway Roper 2023 Kelsie Domer
Kelsie Domer paved the way for the underdog story in 2023 when she came through the Last Chance Qualifier and advanced her way to the top prize to win the $60,000 purse and claim the WRWC World Champion Breakaway Roper 2023! Kelsie is a mom first, wife, and then breakaway roper at heart! Her family is a priority that she chooses throughout the year, so the WRWC event is a huge advantage to her and they way she gets to travel!
Through her 2023 WRWC title, Kelsie went on to compete at the Rodeo North Carolina in 2023 as well, nominating just a few events, to get her another $10,000 BONUS payday for being 2nd in points overall for the year end breakaway roper in the WCRA’s 2023 tour!
Kelsie talks about the opportunity for professional women in rodeo, and just what it means to be given that equal opportunity and the platform to compete not only as a breakaway roper but as a team roper as well! If you have not marked your calendars yet, block out May 9-18 in Fort Worth Texas at the historic Stockyards Coliseum to get the jam packed action of women in rodeo! Classifications, how does Pro vs. Challenger work?
In an effort to create more opportunities for all women rodeo athletes, the Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) has launched a tiering system based on earnings and rankings in the respective disciplines at the WRWC. This tiering system will level the playing field by dividing the pro and challenger athletes into their respective pools in the 2022 WRWC qualifying rounds and give each group a direct path to compete at center stage.
Why should I compete in the Women’s Rodeo World Championship?
The world championship event is open to any biological female athlete over the age of 13 years old competing in breakaway roping, barrel racing, and/or team roping. The WRWC is a culmination of a year-long race of women’s rodeo events held worldwide. Athletes qualify for the WRWC by earning points and leaderboard positions using the VRQ (Virtual Rodeo Qualifier) or through select Qualifier Series events.
