Cheyenne Wimberley | Women’s Rodeo World Championships 2023 Barrel Racing Champion

The Women’s Rodeo World Championships is a favorite event for Cheyenne, she says,” I love the WRWC because you know exactly what you are getting into when you enter. You know how many times you are going to run, and you get paid for every run that you make!” Last year Cheyenne ran her horse, Blue Duck, that had only been to 1 rodeo event prior to the WRWC Finals, and kept progressing to end up the 2023 WRWC Barrel Racing Champion!

Winning the $60,000 at the Women’s Rodeo World Championship in 2023 was another proud accomplishment for Cheyenne Wimberly! The 5x NFR Barrel Racing Qualifier has been a rodeo cowgirl most of her life. She wears many different hats when it comes to outside of the arena, from selling Horse Properties in Real Estate through CW Horse Properties, selling horse insurance, and riding barrel horses of all ages, Cheyenne has a very busy lifestyle!

Cheyenne and I talk about all things horse related from barrel racing, breakaway roping, team roping, and all things rodeo today on this episode! Although we run at different ends of the arena, our strong love and connection with horses, rodeo, and the western way of life bring us together through the commodore of rodeo!

    • In an effort to create more opportunities for all women rodeo athletes, the Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC) has launched a tiering system based on earnings and rankings in the respective disciplines at the WRWC. This tiering system will level the playing field by dividing the pro and challenger athletes into their respective pools in the 2022 WRWC qualifying rounds and give each group a direct path to compete at center stage.

  • Why should I compete in the Women’s Rodeo World Championship?

    • The world championship event is open to any biological female athlete over the age of 13 years old competing in breakaway roping, barrel racing, and/or team roping. The WRWC is a culmination of a year-long race of women’s rodeo events held worldwide. Athletes qualify for the WRWC by earning points and leaderboard positions using the VRQ (Virtual Rodeo Qualifier) or through select Qualifier Series events.
